I have not been in AppSumo for long, but I have met two type of people: Those that have the previous ShortPixel, and those that were waiting for another ShortPixel lifetime deal. They have two separate and different uses, and both will use the AppSumo plan’s credits. Normally, only one should be used at any given time, depending on the rest of your setup.

ShortPixel Image Optimizer

This is the standard Image Optimizer Plugin, it will optimize all your media library images and you can choose to create webp images too. One credit will be used for each transformation, and that’s about it. Your images will be optimized and faster to load, but will not make use of CDN and automatic resize.

ShortPixel Adaptive Images

This is the other WordPress plugin, it will optimize images on the fly, serve them via ShortPixel’s CDN and also automatic resize them depending on the monitor and the image size. Some say the image CDN can be a bit slow, but that depends on the location I believe, and you can also use your own CDN, there’s extensive documentation on the topic in the ShortPixel documentation. One credit used this way will last about one month, as the CDN refreshes its cache once a month or so.

Regardless of which of the two you use, the results make it so your website will load much faster and if you use Adaptive Images doubly so, as your images are also sized appropriately to the device used and the size in the website design.

There are also many ways to fix any possible issue, as well as documentation. It’s a well built system that’s been around for years, so we know how good it is.
